Thickness Shoe

thick shoe

A thickness measurement shoe. An incremental encoder provides binary displacement information to the computer which is converted to thickness. This wasn't very accurate because the encoder did not rotate in a linear relation to shoe movement. Modern systems use lasers for thickness measurement, however shoes are still used in low cost applications.
